Reflexology - Supporting you during Pregnancy
Maternity Reflexology can be of great support to women throughout pregnancy and can help to
- Promote general well-being.
- Reduce stress and anxiety.
- Help the body to work at its optimum level.
- Reduce any swelling in the ankles/feet.
- Relieve tired, aching feet.
- Improve sleep quality.
1st Trimester A time when there are huge changes in hormone levels as well as possible anxieties and concerns about the changes that are going to happen. Both of these factors may leave you feeling delighted, anxious, exhilarated, weepy and exhausted - sometimes all at once ! Reflexology will help to aid relaxation, de-stress and as a Reflexologist - will be here to offer support.
2nd & 3rd Trimester During these times most of the discomforts of early pregnancy have gone; however, as the baby grows you may begin to experience other physical symptoms. Your stress levels may also rise as the birth becomes more imminent. Reflexology can be used for general well-being or to help other health issues such as sleeping problems as they arise.
Preparation for Labour As your due date approaches, you may find it useful to visit a reflexologist more frequently. Although we are not able to claim that reflexology can induce labour, the general view is that it will help support the body to prepare for labour and promote relaxation at a time when anxiety levels are often high.
Hopefully making the whole experience a bit more pleasurable for you.
Reflexology can be used throughout pregnancy - a full history will be taken first to ensure that it is safe and appropriate to carry out a treatment. (Please feel free to contact me if you have any queries or check with your GP/Midwife/Healthcare practitioner if in any doubt).
